About Us
read moreYork Wines is an Independent Wine Merchant and Specialist Wine Importer. The majority of our wines are sourced directly from the vineyards this enables us to sell the best quality wines at the best prices. Many of the wines we offer are exclusive to our list. Quality is the most important factor in our choice of wine, and each wine has to be a good representative of the wines from that area and country. We taste all the wines before we buy and stock them, and we taste each new vintage of every wine before we decide to continue with it.

These wines should generally be opened 2-3 hours before serving and if necessary decanted. White wine, including Sherry, should be served cool but not over-chilled - overly cold wines taste and smells of nothing. For sweet and sparkling wines the correct temperature is between 6-8 degrees C, whilst dry still white and rose should be served at 8-12 degrees C.
