Homeopathy is a method of treatment which has its origins in antiquity. The basic principle is the law of similars, which means treat like with like. The principle can be found in the ancient Sanskrit writings of India, the teachings of Hippocrates and, in the Middle Ages, Paracelcus. But the founder of homeopathy as we now know it was Samuel Hahnemann, two centuries ago. The law of similars applies in the modern concepts of immunisations and allergy vaccines, where a toxin is introduced to the body in a form which causes a healthy curative or preventative response.
