Sporting Clubs in Watford

Herts Bowling Club is a private members club with all funds retained for further development. It is registered Community Amateur Sports Club Incorporated in 1912 the club moved to its present purpose built facility in 1989. There are approximately 700 members (550 men and 150 women) 150 are full members

The origins of the club are shrouded in mystery. However, it is known that tennis and croquet were played in the grounds of Cassiobury House as far back as the 1880s. The 1882 entry in Kelly's Directory of Hertfordshire indicated the existence of a Thomas Turner, a timber merchant and general wood turner

The Watford branch of Old Parmiterians Football Club was established in 1986. The original football club, which is still going strong, was established over one hundred years ago to supply football for boys leaving Parmiters School in Bethnal Green, London. In 1981, the school moved to Garston, near Watford

Watford Rugby Club was established in 1973 following the demise of West Herts RFC and Sun Postal Rugby Club. Our Club House and ground is at Knutsford Playing Fields, Radlett Road, Watford. The Club earned the Seal of Approval and Club Mark accreditations in 2007 and continue to hold these accreditations.
