My work deals with visual perception, in particular the fact that we can receive conflicting information from a given visual stimulus. The preconceived assumptions of eye and brain are challenged, raising questions about the subconscious and how we interpret what we're looking at. Memory plays an integral part in how we perceive the world around us and my current series of paintings Remembered Present addresses this concern. Change through time and the inevitable accumulation of knowledge are themes that have underpinned my practice from early on.

It brings together every aspect of contemporary art, from all corners of creation. Works trickle through our unassuming green door, having arrived from Barcelona and Bradford, Deptford and Dublin, studios within walking distance and time zone difference. I am delighted that my drawing 'Hinterland' (above) has been selected for the biennial New Light Art Prize Exhibition 2020-2021. The show opens at Scarborough Art Gallery in September 2020, then tours for over a year to the Biscuit Factory, Newcastle; Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery, Carlisle and onto Bankside Gallery, London, in November 2021.
