read moreIf you're looking for a veterinary surgery that delivers the best possible care from a professional and compassionate team, look no further than Riverside Vets. You can be sure your pet is in the best possible hands with us, whether they're in for a quick check-up or a more complex investigation. What's more, we are affiliated with national pet insurance company PetPlan, meaning that you're able to receive 4 weeks' free insurance for your puppy or kitten before you commit to a full plan. Whatever your pet needs, and whatever time they need it, we're here to help them.
About Us
read moreRiverside Vets was established in 1981, at which time the practice in Livingston was the first veterinary clinic in the area. Our current owners Mandy and Graeme joined the team in 1986 and 1992 respectively, and bought out both practices when the original owner retired in 2001. Following this, they embarked on an extensive programme of renovations across both sites. The Bathgate practice was originally an old chemist premises and had to be completely taken apart in order to upgrade the premises and install new veterinary equipment.
Alternative Therapies
read moreWestern medicine has certainly cemented its place in treating a variety of both severe and minor medical conditions, but have you ever wondered whether there is an alternative to endless drugs and tablets? Here at Riverside Vets we are proud to offer a range of alternative therapies to help your pet. Whether they have a chronic condition that doesn't respond well to conventional medicine, suffer undesirable side effects to their current medication, or you'd simply rather they had a more natural course of treatment, we could have the answer.
Worming & Flea Treatments
read moreDid you know that as well as causing discomfort, parasite infestations can be fatal to your pet if they're left untreated? For that reason it's extremely important to make sure you regularly administer parasite control to your pet. Fleas are perhaps the most common parasite to infest household pets. They live in warm environments - your pet's fur and even your clothes and furniture and can be passed from your companion to you and your family. Fleas can have thousands of offspring in their short lifespans, which can make it particularly difficult to eliminate them.
Online Shop & Repeat Prescriptions
read moreHere you'll find a great selection of products for a wide variety of animals, all at the high quality standard you would expect. You can also order repeat prescriptions for your pet using the form below for added convenience. Please be aware that we must have examined your pet within the last six months before we will issue a repeat prescription of any medication. Once you've made your purchases, they will be delivered to either our Livingston or Bathgate practice for you to collect at your convenience.
Pet Health Checks & Vaccinations
read moreWhen it comes to your furry friend, you naturally want them to be healthy, happy and able to enjoy their life for as long as possible. The key to this is preventative healthcare - making sure your pet is examined by one of our professional vets on a regular basis. This ensures that any problems that may occur are spotted early and can be treated before they develop into potentially serious conditions. If your pet is very young, it's best that you bring them to see us for a health check every month until they are six months old; after this we can give them a check-up every six months.
Insurance
read moreGuidance from our governing body is that all veterinary practices should move to an emergency only service until these restrictions are lifted. Given this advice, we have had to make the very difficult decision to temporarily close both our Bathgate and Armadale branches and run an emergency only clinic from our main site in Livingston. Here we have all of the facilities we need to cope with emergency and life threatening conditions. We continue to have two teams of vets, nurses and support staff available on site during our normal hours to take your calls, give advice and treat your pet if needed.
VIP Health Plan
read moreAt Riverside Vets we want to make preventative health care easy and affordable to help you give your pets the best care possible. We believe that prevention is better than cure. Early diagnosis of a health problem will help your pet to live a long and healthy life. Our Healthy Pet Club is not pet insurance. It covers the regular treatments your pet needs throughout life, such as vaccinations, flea and worm treatments and regular health checks. Extra benefits of the plan include discounts on food and other routine treatments your pet might need.
