read moreThe school was founded in 1513 by Dame Agnes Mellers, with King Henry VIII sealing the school's foundation deed in that same year. After more than 500 years of teaching boys, we welcomed girls into our school and become a co-educational institution in 2015. The School has an extensive pupil catchment and is the first choice for much of Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Lincolnshire and Leicestershire. Our students come from a wide range of backgrounds and we are committed to maintaining a representative entry, supporting this with generous bursary and scholarship funds for Year 7. Together, these mean that about a tenth of Senior School pupils receive some form of financial assistance.

It's a great way to get a feel for the school and learn more about what we have to offer. There will be current students and staff on hand to answer your questions and lots of fun and educational activities for your children to enjoy. The event is primarily aimed at the families of boys and girls who are thinking of applying to join our school in September 2021, but is of course open to anyone who would like to come and have a look around.

We offer first-rate venues for all occasions, as well as ample parking and tram access in a great location close to the City Centre. Available for hire we have a large dining hall, lecture rooms, an assembly hall and a fully functional theatre, as well as a swimming pool and other sports facilities. Whether it's for a conference, concert, formal dinner, private party or sports practice, we have both traditional and modern rooms that can accommodate any event.

read moreOur well-resourced Library is situated in the oldest part of the Senior School and is generously proportioned, with separate accommodation for both Upper and Lower Schools as well as our Archive holdings. It provides a calm and conducive environment for study and reading. The Library provides up-to-date books, cutting edge e-resources, foreign language and popular DVDs, supporting both recreational and hobby reading alongside extended reading for curriculum subjects and research. Providing daily newspapers and a selection of magazines and journals encourages engagement with current affairs and new developments in Science, IT, Art and Sport.
