Jeffery is one of the country's foremost composers and educators, equally at home in classical, contemporary and jazz music. He studied composition at the Royal College of Music with John Lambert and Herbert Howells and later with Aladar Majorossy, Gordon Jacob and Olivier Messiaen. He has about 150 works in the repertoire with over a 3rd of them published. He has been composer in residence in many European cities and with some notable orchestras including the London Festival Orchestra, London Mozart Players and the Northern Sinfonia.

read moreFor a toe tapping interlude to your day, why not visit the Cramphorn Studio Theatre in Chelmsford, where music is on the menu most Wednesday Lunchtimes starting at 1pm. This work is dedicated to Barrington Pheloung, my dear friend and celebrated composer, who sadly died during the composition of this piece and whose favourite plainsong melody was 'Lux aeterna'. I have been most fortunate in life to have played with some fine musicians and written for same. It is with unbridled delight that I introduce 'TRIPTYCH' to you via this little YouTube promo.

Among my orchestral pieces that have proven popular over the years is my Timpani Concerto, originally written for Alan Cumberland and the LPO, its not inconsiderable demands have been met by an increasingly younger set of players - here is a video of Scott Wilson (no relation) with the Docklands Sinfonia under Spencer Down.
