Barry Oldnall

Musician in Harlow, Essex
Musician in Harlow, Essex I became a music teacher at a relatively late stage in my career, in fact it happened almost by accident! I had just been made redundant from an engineering position, and was killing time in a local music shop by trying out a guitar (October 2002) The proprietor was evidently impressed with my playing, because he asked if I was interested in taking on students. My 1st students were all originally clients of this shop (Muzart, in Bishop's Stortford) Another local music shop in Harlow (Tones) has been kind enough to allow me to advertise in their premises for students.

Great help
A great help in starting me off on Ukulele. I have now started learning electric guitar with equally satisfying results. Consistantly knowledgeable and inspiring.

Great service!
I found Barry's teaching style exactly right for me. He gets you into playing real tunes quickly and makes the theory side fun and understandable. He is also a very accomplished player himself which I found inspired me to want to get that 'next level'.

About Us
read moreI have acquired a wealth of experience within the music business, with a semi-professional involvement that has spanned over forty years. I didn't pick up the electric guitar until I was seventeen, but I was playing in a band within six months due to my obsession and methodical self-teaching. I now play several related instruments i.e. acoustic guitar, bass, banjo, ukulele, mandolin and the diatonic harmonica. I offer lessons on all these instruments. I am able to give lessons "Online". I became a music teacher at a relatively late stage in my career, in fact it happened almost by accident!
Guitar teacher and professional
read moreBarry has been extremely helpful in giving our son Ryan the confidence and capability to sit and subsequently pass with distinction, his recent RGT Preliminary examination. Barry's positive attitude, encouragement and patience, along with his obvious knowledge and technical ability had a huge influence on Ryan's positive examination result. Ryan thoroughly enjoys each and every one of his lessons with Barry and we are extremely grateful for his continual time and excellent teaching. With Barry's ongoing support we are sure that Ryan will continue to enjoy his lessons, and maintain the confidence to reach higher levels of technical competence.
