He obtained his degree from Newcastle University and immediately joined the Royal Navy on a short career commission. Of the 6 years spent in the Forces 3 years were spent in the Far East working for the Sultan of Brunei, looking after the dental care of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces. On returning to England in 1992 Anthony joined Mayfield House Dental Practice in Gosforth which had a well-respected reputation for providing high quality Private Dental Care.
