Never mind, we currently have completed the seasonal flu clinics but if you have missed your vaccination then please book an appointment with the nurses to get this done, sooner rather than later! Remember you have to be in an at risk group before it can be provided on the NHS. Otherwise there are lots of private providers who for a tiny fee will do this for you, just keep your eyes on the papers for adverts. Swine flu vaccine has arrived and we're in the process of inviting patients in the appropriate risk groups.

In the UK, the childhood vaccination programme protects you against a number of diseases, but doesn't cover most of the infectious diseases found overseas. Some countries require you to have an international Certificate of Vaccination of Prophylaxix (ICVP) before you enter. Many tropical countries in Africa and South America won't accept travellers from an area where there's yellow fever unless they can prove they've been vaccinated against it.

Should they go on to develop symptoms they should stay at home for an additional 7 days from when their symptoms started. Fever helps your body fight infections by stimulating the body's natural defences. By increasing the body's temperature, a fever makes it harder for the bacteria and viruses that cause infections to survive. A fever is a natural response to many common illnesses.

Colds, sore ears, sore throats and 'tummy bugs' ('D&V') are mostly self-limiting, and information about these illnesses and what you can do to ease the symptoms are available on the website shown below. Very occasionally there is a more serious cause for your child's illness that will require treatment, or even hospital admission.
