St. Helens swimming, water polo and synchronised swimming club was established in 1885 and originally used baths at Warrington Old Road that had been built in 1878. The club is a founder member of the Liverpool & District Water Polo Association in 1894 and won the 1st three L&D Water Polo championships

Established in 1877, Haydock Park Golf Club is a long-founded golf course located near Haydock Park Racecourse. It is a mature parkland course of just over 6, 000 yards.
