About Us
read moreThe Wales Mental Health in Primary Care Network (WaMH in PC) was established in 2003 to help promote and improve primary mental health care across Wales. Launched initially under the title of the All Wales Primary Care Mental Health Network (AWPCMHN), our current title under WaMH in PC was adopted in 2004. Membership is limited to a maximum of 20 voting Core Group Members, 4 of which must be GPs of good standing of the RCGP, who support the aims and purpose of WaMH in PC. Between them they provide relevant skills, knowledge, competency and experience relating to the provision of mental health and are in turn supported by 2 non-voting staff members (WaMH in PC's Project Manager and the RCGP Wales Manager).
Part 1
read morePart 1 makes it a legal requirement for Local Health Board and Local Authorities to work together to expand and strengthen mental health services at primary care level across Wales for people of all ages. We have now created a series of resources on this site to help GPs and their teams understand this part of the Measure which came into force in October 2012. You can access these resources through the following link - Part 1 - Downloadable Resource. The appointment of new primary care mental health workers under Part 1 of the Measure - Local Mental Health Support Services - will provide assessments, treatments, onward referral, information and support to individuals and their carers.
