Theaters & Cinemas in Manchester, Greater Manchester
Urban Stage was established in 2003 by professional actors Simeon Truby and Helen Kay. The goal was to provide students the possibility to learn new skills and gain confidence through the performing arts. Students take part in activities such as drama, games, improvisation, dance and music. They learn skills such as mime, stage combat, vocal technique and are given the possibility to put into practice what they have learnt in regular live performances.

As an organisation that works primarily with young people, in a medium where working with each other in close proximity is standard procedure, we were always going to find it difficult to continue our work in the usual manner. However, we were determined that our students would not be left without an outlet for their creativity during this difficult time, and so we embarked on finding a way to make Urban Stage run virtually throughout the last term.

Anyone can apply for the scholarship, whether new or existing students. If there are more than 4 applicants for the scholarship in any given year, all applicants will be offered an audition and interview to decide on those who will receive the scholarship. Anyone who has a scholarship, and wishes to continue it for another year, must re-apply along with any new potential candidates.
