This grade 1 listed building dates from the twelfth century and may be the oldest church in the city. Some fragments of the original building remain, but the church is mainly medieval. Worthy of note are the sixteenth century font cover, the Jacobean pulpit and the reredos in the chancel. Amongst the fragments of medieval glass is the earliest known representation of the city's coat of arms. The church has an anglo-catholic and choral tradition, which is reflected in our worship. Although the PCC decided not to sign declarations A, B, and C, the president/celebrant at the Eucharist is always male.
