St Andrews Church
read moreDue to new guidelines we are able to hold services on Thursday at 12.30pm and Sunday at 11.00am. Although we are still not able to sing we are sometimes using some music recorded especially for us by Music Scholars at Newcastle University. Welcome to the website for the Parish Church of St. Andrew which is in the heart of Newcastle upon Tyne. We are a traditional parish church and our worship reflects this. We are pleased to talk with you about baptism, weddings and other church services. One of our main areas of ministry is workplace chaplaincy which involves caring for people at work, discussing issues and taking action with others to make the city a more humane place to live and work.
About Us
read moreBut, because it is God to whom we witness, we need no less a constant detachment, a will to go apart and wait upon God in quiet, in silence, lest by our very busyness we should only rob ourselves and rob others of the realisation of God's presence; 'Be still and know that I am God'. Would that everyone whose heart God has once touched would guard times of quietness amid our noisy, bustling life to let God touch the heart again.
Weddings
read moreWedding services are conducted throughout the year at St Andrew's. We have a lovely church to be married in. You are entitled to be married in St Andrew's if you or your partner live in our Parish. You are also allowed to get married in St. Andrews if you do not live in our Parish but come to church a set number of times for at least six months which means you can be on our electoral roll. This makes you a member of the church so that you can get married here. At St Andrew's we do marry people who have been previously married and are divorced.
Baptisms
read moreOne of the joys of life is having a child of your own. Part of the life of our church is to share in that joy. People who want to have their child baptised (Baptism means to dip) and christened (the giving of a Christian name) can do. If you live near our church you are entitled to this. When you live in another Parish you still can have your child baptised but we have to seek permission from your local church. You can have your child baptised within our service at 11.00 am (1st, 3rd, 4th and 5th Sundays) or after the service at 12.30 pm.
