read moreFrom 1968 Brian worked as an optician in Torquay and gradually purchased the optical practices of Frank Darton, Henry Green, Bennetts and the Torquay branch of GC Bateman, thus expanding his business. In 1988 he sold his practice to Melson Wingate Ltd and retired. After 6 weeks of retirement, he decided to return to optics, but in a different way and specialise in home visits for the housebound which he did very successfully until 2002 when Eiohn Hayes joined him and together they formed Knapman Hayes.
