Driving Lessons
read moreOur driving lessons are fully structured with a firm aim and objective of what is to be achieved during the lesson. Once we have established the learning goals for the session with the student and checked they have a good theory knowledge for that topic, we then set a plan to achieve maximum learning during the driving lesson.Our driving instructors are highly skilled in coaching during lessons. They will give full, easy to understand assistance when required or simply use prompts to help guide to a successful outcome. The instructors aim is to transfer responsibility to the student to enable totally independent driving.
Automatic Driving Lessons
read moreWe provide automatic driving lessons in the Canterbury area. There are many reasons why people choose to learn in an automatic car, they may struggle with gears or the clutch or are worried about stalling.For some an automatic car gives you more time to concentrate on the road and what is happening around you. Learning in an automatic is often less stressful and people find they progress quicker and pass their test more quickly than learning in a manual car.

read moreWhen looking for a driving instructor for the second time round I did quite a bit of research for reputable companies. Where my prior instructor rushed lessons and did not help me learn, Chris of John Harvey was a breath of fresh air. His lessons were clear and precise, we went over each issue that arose in a lesson so that each lesson ended on a positive and helped reinforce good habits and built up my driving confidence. Chris did not rush things unnecessarily and was easy to talk to for all my questions. I can absolutely recommend them, JH are worth the money and I was able to pass my test on the first go and felt not only test ready but also confident in my driving capability. I was also suitability impressed with the vehicle, which was reasonably new and was incredibly easy to drive.

read moreWhen you start learning to drive there is an equal amount of fear and excitement running through you. John, my instructor, was able to turn my fear into control and my excitement into confidence. He was calm and understanding and was able to give me many tips on manoeuvres which always work and are now drilled into my mind. I also had to swap instructors toward the end of my time learning; I changed to have Chris. Despite this, the change had no impact on my driving and I was able to continue as normal with another brilliant instructor. I couldnt recommend John Harvey Driving School more.

Fantastic driving school!
I was a very nervous driver but John knew where to push me out of my comfort zone and get me driving! Every manoeuvre is thoroughly spoken through first prior to physical practicing giving you a real understanding of what you are doing.Highly recommend anyone wanting to learn to drive

Highly Recommend John Harvey Driving School
Matt was my instructor, he was calm, patient, spoke me through everything I was unsure of and my lessons were fun!Previously being with another driving school who weren't great and learning with Matt made all the difference. He built up my confidence and helped me pass my test! Could not recommend him more!

John started out as a driving instructor in 2005. Having trained at BSM he then moved to the AA in 2007. He made the decision to go independent in 2008 and started John Harvey Driving School.
