Auto Repair in Watford, Hertfordshire
Auto Repair in Watford, Hertfordshire Colin began his career testing tyres for Pirelli, racing around tracks spinning and braking in different conditions assessing how effective the tyres were and how they could be improved, soon Colin went on to the Pirelli sales staff and progressively worked the corporate ladder until becoming uk sales director, having gone so far with Pirelli it was time to move on to larger and better things and Colin moved to Toyo tyre uk as general director and helped Toyo to earn a nice commercial and earthmover tyre market share in the uk, but it was at this time with a shortage of nice, honest, professional tyre depots and Toyo tyres need of a reliable source in the uk to import car tyres that was in 1980 and fairway was born.

Car Air Conditioning Services
read moreIn the summer months, car air conditioning can be the difference between a pleasant trip and an uncomfortable trial. Approximately 70% of new cars are fitted with an air conditioning system as standard, and just like your car's engine and safety systems, your air conditioning needs regular servicing to maintain quality and efficiency. If you've noticed that the power of your air conditioning isn't what it used to be, you may be interested to discover that around 10% of air-con gas escapes the system every year, meaning the longer it is left without diagnosis and gas charging, the more inefficient the air conditioning becomes.
MOTs and Testing
read moreWe have many years experience in MOT testing and are busy testing stations therefore it is advisable to book in advance if possible. We offer a free 14 day re-test period. Modern Air Conditioning Systems require yearly servicing and maintenance in order to maintain performance. Vehicle manufacturers now recommend a regular service to maintain the efficiency of the system and ensure the reliable running of your vehicle. Most people don't know where to get the kind of specialist advice and service required.
Diagnostics
read moreWith cars getting more and more like computers the days of repairing you car on a Sunday afternoon are gone. Cars now have an E.C.U or electronic control unit. This monitors how the car is running and sends and receives signals and constantly changes settings so that the car runs as efficiently as possible, it also stores faults that may occur whilst driving and these faults need specialist equipment to help diagnose the problem. Do you know at Fairway we perform the following checks as a FREE service for all our customers?
Brake repairs
read moreAt Fairway Tyre & Auto Services, our brake technicians are highly experienced and fully trained to spot those early danger signs. But understanding how your brakes work is also worthwhile and can help you spot some of the early danger signs. However, if in doubt, ALWAYS bring your car to your nearest Fairway Tyre & Auto Services branch. Modern day braking systems seldom fail totally, but erosion of performance takes place over a period of time. The driver makes subconscious compensation for this gradual deterioration and fails to realise just how dangerous the brakes have become.
Servicing and Garage Services
read moreAt Fairway we service all makes and models of cars and vans using only the best products available. All of our technicians are fully qualified with the main objective of providing a high quality comprehensive service which you can rely on. Friction is caused when metal surfaces rub against each other when your car's engine is running. This friction generates heat. It is the job of your engine oil to cool these metal surfaces and lubricate the moving parts to minimise wear. In addition to cooling and lubricating the metal surfaces of your car's engine, oil carries away dirt and metal particles, which are the by-products of the combustion process.
Wheel Alignment
read moreIncorrect alignment can result in rapid irregular tyre wear and can even affect the handling and safety of the vehicle. Wheel alignment can be affected by driving against a kerb, hitting a pothole in the road or by excessive wear to steering or suspension components. Alignment of wheels and tyres to the specification required by your vehicle is an important way to guarantee a smooth ride and to get the most out of your tyres. The direction and angle at which tyres are set are both important. Wheel alignment or 'tracking' involves checking the direction and angle against vehicle manufacturers' specifications.
