Community Event Venue in York
The Poppleton Road Memorial Hall has served the York community since its opening in 1946 as a living tribute to local war casualties. Originally constructed from a repurposed RAF barrack hut and air raid shelter bricks, the Hall provides versatile event spaces including an auditorium seating 100 and two meeting rooms. Managed by a resident committee and supported by four independent trustees, the Hall hosts regular community events, private bookings, and cultural activities. Our facilities include AV equipment, free superfast broadband, and limited on-site parking. The 2018-2019 committee included President Mr P. Hepworth and Chair Mrs J Hepworth, with ongoing improvements funded through community efforts and external grants. We maintain strict safeguarding policies for events involving children and vulnerable adults, and our operations comply with licensing regulations and data protection standards.
