Your Home for Christ-Centred Community
We are Bethel Community Church, a vibrant multi-cultural congregation based in Newport, South Wales, with a rich heritage spanning over 130 years. Our mission is to build people and build community through Christ-centred worship, practical outreach, and authentic faith. Despite facing significant challenges including a devastating fire in 2018, we have remained committed to serving Newport's diverse population, including refugees and asylum seekers, through spiritual guidance, social support, and community initiatives. Our newly renovated 21st-century facility maintains historical integrity while providing modern amenities for worship and community engagement. We prioritise prayer as the foundation of our activities and maintain weekly prayer meetings alongside Sunday services. Our leadership team, including Senior Pastor Andrew Cleverly, brings decades of experience in pastoral care and community development. We actively collaborate with local authorities and charities like The Gap Wales to deliver essential services through The Sanctuary, demonstrating our commitment to practical Christianity in action.

The service includes Holy Communion and welcomes attendees of all ages and backgrounds.
Prayer Meetings
Weekly prayer meetings form the spiritual foundation of our church activities. These gatherings provide space for personal reflection, corporate intercession, and spiritual renewal. Participants can engage in both silent contemplative prayer and expressive worship, experiencing the transformative power of prayer together.
Alpha Courses
Alpha is a series of interactive sessions exploring the basics of Christian faith in a welcoming environment. Designed for seekers at all stages, these courses combine meals, discussions, and practical teachings about Jesus and Christian living. No prior knowledge or commitment is required to attend.

Through The Sanctuary and partnerships with local organisations, we provide practical support to Newport residents. Our programs assist refugees, asylum seekers, and vulnerable community members with essential services, advocacy, and integration support while maintaining religious inclusivity.
