read moreBallet forms the basis of all forms of Dance and is very popular throughout the school. Classes create a positive learning environment and an arena to express creativity and artistic expression. Ballet is excellent for strength, flexibility and posture. Nursery Ballerina classes start at age three. The class is a ballet structure taught through imaginative storytelling and creative movement. Props such as Teddy Bears, ribbons, feathers and fairy wands are used to create a magical atmosphere. Stories based on Angelina Ballerina, a trip to the seaside and flying on a magic carpet are examples of the many themes used in our lessons.

read moreOur enchanting early years programme incorporates song, music and the first principals of ballet. Our classes are suitable for girls & boys from 12 months of age. Your little ones will be transported on a magical journey with Tutu Bunny through movement and imagination. The use of beautiful props such as wands, shakers, scarves and instruments enchant and inspire creativity as well as being the best fun ever! Accompanied by their carer your little tot will gain in confidence and experience the sheer joy of dance.

read moreAt The Dance Studio we are passionate about helping others. Our main charity is GOSH and our bi-annual show raises desperately needed funds for this amazing hospital. To date we have raised in the region of 38,000 for this worthy charity. We also fundraise for The Hospice of St Francis in memory of 2 of our much loved Dance Studio parents with our annual pyjama week which is such fun for all the students. Every July we perform a showcase in the Harpenden Highland Gathering organised by Harpenden Lions who support different local charities.

read moreWe enter children for examinations in ISTD Ballet, Tap, Modern & Jazz. We also offer exams in Acrobatic Arts. Examinations are held every term except during our Show Rehearsal period. Exams are not compulsory and children who do not wish to take them may simply move to the next Grade. Exam candidates enter the room in small groups and demonstrate the appropriate syllabus singly and as a group. A sound technique as well as a sense of performance is expected. Certificates are awarded and children feel a real sense of pride in their achievements.
