Sport-Med
Medical Center in Stockport, Greater Manchester
Sport-Med was founded by Tim Deykin in 1988. At that time there was no other full time town centre physiotherapy or sports injury clinic in operation within Stockport. The clinic was set up to supply physiotherapy service to the people who work in Stockport, whether in the professional, commercial, industrial or retail sectors of the town. Essentially for the workers of Stockport the practice opening hours cover the working week, but was closed at the weekends.

About Us
read moreIn fact, healing (inflammation and fibrosis) takes place whether you like it or not, but the final outcome of an injury can be strongly influenced by what you do during this process. The final quality, strength and tolerance to loading and actual quantity can vary by doing the correct type of rehab, or not! There is a fine balancing act to be done, and lies between a beneficial degree of loading, but without causing any further damage. Gradual increments in loading, especially eccentric loading, helps the adaptive process and strengthening of the damaged tissues, whilst over-loading can cause a further tear or re-rupture of the healing tissue causing more fibrous tissue to be manufactured.

If you are nervous or think you will feel ill at ease, then please bring a family member or close friend for moral support. We try to make you feel as relaxed as possible. We know that some people feel rather self-conscious and vulnerable during the physical examination particularly relating to certain conditions, so please ask to be assessed or treated by someone of your own gender if that would make you feel more comfortable.
