read moreDavid, and his friend Nat Duke, set up Soundworks Recording Studio on Cave Street in 1999. The studio then moved to Blackbirdleys Community Centre in 2004, as part of a project to provide audio facilities to the local community. The building of the studio was a community project in itself with many friends and community members helping with the project. David and Nat recorded volumes of quality music over those years, including recording Supergrass' first EP that subsequently got them a major record deal and launched their career.

Whether the material has been recorded in our studio or elsewhere, we work with our customers in an open atmosphere where feedback is very welcome with an aim to satisfy everyone involved in the process. What we won't do is simply take your song and present you with an unquestionable interpretation of your music, without any input from you. To us, your satisfaction is of utmost importance. Our approach to mixing and mastering is to use a combination of analogue and digital technology, we feel this hybrid approach gives the best all round result.

read moreSoundworks is fully equipped for band recording. We have a decent sized live room with a great sound and can work in a variety of ways from live recording to multi-track layering. In addition we have two guitar amp isolation booths which makes it possible to record a full band completely live with quality sound and complete separation between all instruments. We know only too well the frustration of musicians forced situations that are unnatural for them. That is why we place the reigns firmly in the hands of our customers, letting them decide which recording method is best for them.
