The Scottish Massage Therapists Organisation (SMTO) exists to supply a service to the public, the Massage Therapist and the profession, and works with the General Council for Massage Therapy (GCMT) in developing and maintaining standards. The SMTO was established in 1992 and since then has expanded from strength to strength, and now covers the entire of Scotland, parts of England and Wales and beyond.

We aim to represent the views of the whole spectrum of massage and soft tissue practitioners by working collectively in the best interests of the profession. GCMT members define the massage core curriculum which is now used as a key requirement of the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC) registration.
