We're a long founded business of nearly three decades standing, specialising in eighteenth, nineteenth and twentieth Century watercolours, oils, etchings and engravings, together with selected antiquarian, rare and scarce books on several subjects. We currently have a particular interest in maritime subjects and are well known nationally as a leading specialist in the works of William Lionel Wyllie, R. A. 1851-1931) and his contemporaries. We exhibit his works regularly at our gallery and are often called upon to give valuations and advice to both private customers and museums.

read moreWe have recently discovered this fascinating 210 year old watercolour depicting a view looking east across what is now Anglesey Road and Stoke Lake towards Haslar Hospital. Such has been the interest in it that we have created a limited edition fine art print. Our gallery was established in 1980 specialising in 18th, 19th and early 20th century pictures. We also restore paintings, watercolours and prints in our studio, and offer quality bespoke picture framing. Our studio undertakes cleaning and restoration of oil paintings, watercolours and engravings.

read moreRichard Martin Gallery was established on Stoke Road in Gosport on England's south coast in 1980, just a few hundred metres from historic Portsmouth Harbour. The gallery specialises in original 18th, 19th and 20th century watercolours, etchings, engravings, maps and books - mostly on maritime subjects. Although the gallery was founded by Richard and his wife Elaine, they have subsequently welcomed two of their sons into this thriving family business. Elaine Martin looks after the restoration side of the business and has restored and cleaned many hundreds of works for the gallery as well as numerous pictures for private clients and local museums.
