At the time, the notarial profession was dominated by a small number of scrivener notaries who held a monopoly to practice within three miles of the City of London. In 1999 that monopoly was ended and in 2004 Basil formally incorporated his firm and moved to Victoria in central London. Since the move, the firm has thrived to become an established presence in Victoria. The Apostille is a stamped certificate affixed to UK issued documents by The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (commonly referred to as the FCO). The FCO will check the document has been issued by a UK public notary/official and verify whether the signature, stamp or seal is genuine.
