Wildlife conservation
read moreThis includes hundreds of acres of woodland, much of which is designated Ancient Semi-Natural Woodland. We care for this woodland using traditional management techniques including coppicing, a way of harvesting wood that stimulates new growth. This felling allows light to flood onto the forest floor, stimulating the dormant seeds and bulbs and providing excellent conditions for wild flowers. It also provides food and habitat for wildlife, and can prolong the life of trees. Marks Hall Estate has also had great success in support of butterfly populations.

After a long and rich history, Marks Hall Estate charitable trust was established in 1971 to preserve the future of this once great Estate. Find out the ways in which you can support the work of the trust.

Marks Hall
read moreThis income is vital in supporting day to day running costs for the charity. However there are many demands and responsibilities throughout the Estate. These include maintaining heritage features, managing habitat that is good for wildlife, restoring former Forestry Commission areas and developing new areas of planting within the Arboretum. By making a donation to our general appeal fund you are supporting us in achieving our goal to preserve and develop this landscape. Thank you for your support.
