Sightcare Opticians was set up in 2002 to supply best quality eye care to the local community and to deliver a huge array of spectacles, sunglasses and contact lenses. Sightcare Opticians has two practices, one in Brough and one in Willerby (previously known as John D Wells Opticians)Sightcare is an independent opticians, owned and operated by James Macfie and James Jenneson (who now lives and works in New Zealand) They are both highly skilled Optometrists and are registered with the General Optical Council. James Macfie 1st qualified as a Dispensing Optician before going on to graduate from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2001 with 1st class honours degree in Optometry. He completed his post graduate training in 2002 passing all the exams in the 1st sitting.

Our eye examinations usually last about half an hour but we will advise you if you require any extra specific tests and how long these may take. We have a general routine we perform for every patient but as we like to treat every patient as an individual the optician will tailor the examination similarly, which guarantees you a thorough examination executed smoothly, keeping you as relaxed as possible.

read moreDistance glasses are single vision lenses made up to your distance prescription. You may require these if you struggle to see when driving or when watching the TV. If you are below the age of 45 you may well be able to use them for close work and reading also. Reading glasses are single vision lenses made up to your reading prescription. These glasses will enable you to see close work and print & possibly a VDU, if it is close enough to you. The older you are the harder it will be to see a VDU with only single vision reading glasses, if so intermediate or VDU prescription would be required.
