In 1990 Shirley Ruetimann set up Cordon Bleu Cuisine Occasions, a private event caterer specialising in theme dinner parties, by 1994 the firm was increasingly involved in the planning and logistics of huge parties and corporate events. In 1997 the firm, finally left behind its catering roots behind, rebranded and became Events a la Carte.
