About Us
read moreWe are one of the longest standing firms in Southport, founded over 120 years ago. The original founder of the firm was Walter Ainsworth Cook. He began practice in Post Office Avenue in Southport and later moved to St. George's Place. In 1902 Walter Cook took partnership with Percy Talbot and the name then became Cook and Talbot. Our office remained at St. George's Place until July 2016 when we re-located to the Old Courthouse on Albert Road. The new office is in-keeping with the firm's recent modernisation and provides clients with free, accessible parking, making it easier for clients to visit us.

We anticipate this will take between 5 and 15 hours of work at 220 plus VAT (264 inc VAT) per hour. Total estimated costs will therefore be between 1,100 and 3,300 plus VAT (1,320 to 3,960 inc VAT) dependent upon the complexity of the case. The exact cost will depend on the individual circumstances of the matter. For example, if there is one beneficiary and no property, costs will be at the lower end of the range.
read moreAn LPA is a legal document that appoints another person or persons to manage your financial affairs and/or health and welfare on your behalf. Each LPA is independent of the other, so you can have different attorneys on each one of you wish. You can also choose to just make one type of LPA if required. Anyone can be your attorney, however it is essential that you trust your appointed attorney as they could ultimately have access to all of your finances and be in charge of your welfare. More often than not, it is a family member, however if you cannot trust them to act in your best interests, then a friend or even solicitor can be your attorney.
