We supply care and support throughout Scotland for people affected by these conditions, as well as their families and other carers. More than 1, 200 people affected by stroke, especially those with communication problems, benefit from our major community service, the Volunteer Stroke Service (VSS) and 800 volunteers aid operate it locally. We fund research into all kinds of prevention, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation and the social impact of chest, heart and stroke illness. Our current programme is worth more than J1 million.

We will fight for better health for everyone and work to make sure there is help and support in every community. Our new strategy No Life Half Lived will address the unmet needs - social, emotional and physical - of people and their families who are living with effects of our conditions across Scotland's communities.
