read moreOur volunteer counsellors have helped many people in their journey towards a better relationship. Some of them have shared part of their story with us. We have definitely improved. We take time to do some of the things that the counsellor told us to do and we try to do some very basic things daily - we look at each other, we listen to each other. Some of the very simple tools [the counsellor] gave us are very effective. It's a choice that we make to engage with each other. It took some time for us to realise what was really going on in our relationship.

read moreWe were established as a charity in 1946 to support families in the Catholic community whose relationships came under stress after the trauma and upheaval of World War II. Of course, life has changed significantly since then, as have we. However our President is still the Archbishop of Westminster, currently Cardinal Vincent Nichols. Now we are a national charity, serving the whole community from over 50 centres across England and Wales, with a network of trained volunteers who are motivated by Marriage Care's vision and values.
