About Us
read moreRev'd Sue is a Lancashire lass, born and bred in Prestwich, North Manchester. She was a civil engineer with ICI before hearing the call to be ordained when she was 30, leaving ICI and training for the priesthood at St John's Nottingham before becoming Curate at Iver in Buckinghamshire. She then returned to the North West, serving, in her own words, "For 15 happy years as Vicar at St John's, Pendlebury, in the Manchester Diocese." Rev'd Sue left St John's at the end of July 2015 to follow a call to live and work with a Christian organisation in Nigeria, an experience she describes as "An inspiring and formative time."
Baptisms
read moreMany people have children and infants baptised at our church. This is sometimes known as christening. Children are precious to all of us and to God. In having their children baptized, parents are: thanking God for his gift of life; making a decision to start their child on the journey of faith and asking for the support of the church. Baptism usually takes place as part of our regular Sunday morning service, or it may be performed in a separate service under some special circumstances. As the baptism service involves welcoming people into the family of the church, we ask that those who are being baptised or their parents attend church at least three times before the actual baptism service.
Prayer
read moreAs we enter another year, may we remember that it was the coming of God's Son into the world that split history in two - BC Before Christ, and AD After Christ. Visiting the Holy land today it is possible to see Churches which have been erected to mark the places where Christ ministered. Archaeological digs have uncovered sites where many early Churches were built, so confirming the Gospel narratives. I was excited to read at the end of October 2020 of Professor Adi Erlict and his team from Haifa University revealing the remains of a Byzantine Church from dating from the beginning of the fourth century.
