Churches in Wigan, Greater Manchester
Churches in Wigan, Greater Manchester Built into the gates of the church, and in many places around the building you'll see a cross. The reason is that Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was crucified on a Roman cross and the reason He died was to pay the penalty for all the wrongdoing in the world. Crucifixion was not the end. Jesus Christ returned from the dead - something we remember every Easter Sunday. That death and resurrection are the embodiment of God's love for all men and they are at the heart of what we believe.

read moreYou may wonder why you need to become a Christian, or in other words, become a follower of Jesus Christ. The bible says it is because we have ignored God's directions for our lives. We are reaping the consequences in our world today and the consequences for a future life are truly bleak. If you are satisfied with your life as it is, then what God offers will probably have little appeal for you. In just the same way that nobody enjoys visiting hospital when they feel really well. If, however, you're desperate to change your life but don't know how, then God has an answer that will "blow your mind".

God told us and its written down for anyone to read in the Bible thats God speaking to us about Himself. God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not die but have eternal life.* Those are the words of Jesus Christ who was a very wise man but more than that " He was none other than God in human form " none less than the Son of God.

Some of these questions can be difficult to answer but that does not mean they don't deserve an answer. Here we present some short video presentations that seek to address some of the more frequently asked questions. They have been prepared for us by the organisation Christianity Explored to whom we give thanks for allowing us to publish them on our website.

read moreLet no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law. Some debt is almost inevitable in our society. For example, most people need a mortgage to buy a home. However, with so many ways to borrow such as bank loans, hire purchase, credit and store cards, debt easily gets out of control. When circumstances change unexpectedly, perhaps redundancy or ill health, debt can become a curse on our lives. We do not specifically endorse these services (apart from Christians Against Poverty with which we work closely), but suggest them as possible sources of help to anyone who is struggling with debt.

read moreSometimes it is helpful to read a part of the bible along with an explanation as to how it applies to us today. A different passage and explanation is posted here every day. Each day includes a reading from the Old Testament and New Testament. Starting in Genesis and Matthew, the readings continue sequentiallyover the course of a year, you never read the same passage twice. You can read each passage in you own bible or online. You can even listen to the passages being read. An Overview of each Book of the Bible (developed by Jim Townsend, former Bible editor for Cook Communications) to help appreciate the broad scope of each book.
