The Bristol and Bath Dojos are under the direction of Kobayashi Dojos, Japan and are regularly visited by Japanese instructors from Kobayashi Dojos. Every class follows a similar structure including warm-up, breakfalls, basic exercises, techniques, weapons (wooden sword or staff) and some free practice. read moreTen Chi Kan means place of heaven and earth, a name given to the dojo by Kobayashi Yasuo Sensei. Tenchikan Dojo Bristol practices Aikikai Aikido and is a member of the British Aikido Board, the official governing body of UK Aikido. We are under the technical direction of Aikido Kobayashi Dojos, Japan. Kobayashi dojos can trace its lineage directly to the founder of Aikido via Kobayashi Hiroaki (Dojo-Cho) the current head of Kobayashi dojos to his father Kobayashi Yasuo (So-Shihan) to O-Sensei. Through our close relationship to Kobayashi dojos we hold annual Yudansha black belt examinations presided over by Kobayashi Hiroaki Shihan.

Joining Aikido Tenchikan Dojo Bristol
read moreTo join the dojo download the Association Membership document and Beginners Pack here or come along and complete the registration paperwork on the night. Please note you must hold British Aikido Board insurance to be able to practice with us. This can be purchased when you join the dojo as a combined Membership & Insurance. To practice Aikido you will need to wear a keiko dogi (Judo suit). It is not necessary to buy one immediately, however you should look to get one within a few weeks of joining.
