Every class follows a similar structure including warm-up, breakfalls, basic exercises, techniques, weapons (wooden sword or staff) and some free practice. We understand Aikido requires lifelong study so we continually seek to improve our Aikido through regular instruction by senior teachers Kobayashi dojos, Japan and Europe.

read moreTen Chi Kan means place of heaven and earth, a name given to the dojo by Kobayashi Yasuo Sensei. Tenchikan Dojo Bristol practices Aikikai Aikido and is a member of the British Aikido Board, the official governing body of UK Aikido. We are under the technical direction of Aikido Kobayashi Dojos, Japan. Kobayashi dojos can trace its lineage directly to the founder of Aikido via Kobayashi Hiroaki (Dojo-Cho) the current head of Kobayashi dojos to his father Kobayashi Yasuo (So-Shihan) to O-Sensei. Through our close relationship to Kobayashi dojos we hold annual Yudansha black belt examinations presided over by Kobayashi Hiroaki Shihan.

read moreThe quarterly seminars offer a chance for all members of Kobayashi Dojos United Kingdom to come together to practice. These seminars also allow time for technical teaching points to be passed on to the assocation members and instructors.

read moreTo join the dojo download the Association Membership document and Beginners Pack here or come along and complete the registration paperwork on the night. Please note you must hold British Aikido Board insurance to be able to practice with us. This can be purchased when you join the dojo as a combined Membership & Insurance. To practice Aikido you will need to wear a keiko dogi (Judo suit). It is not necessary to buy one immediately, however you should look to get one within a few weeks of joining.
