Achieving Balance

Alternative Medicine Practitioner in Watford, Hertfordshire
Alternative Medicine Practitioner in Watford, Hertfordshire I have worked as a counsellor for few years. Initially, I trained as a relationship counsellor, working with couples and individuals who were struggling to overcome relationship difficulties. I then undertook two years training in systemic practice (part of a four year MSc. Course) and a year's clinical practicum, both with the KCC Foundation (KCCF) This training has enabled me to extend my counselling to include working with families, including kids and young people.

About Us
read moreAre you feeling stressed-out, panicky, tense or nervous? The stress and pressure of everyday life can lead to anxiety, and it is normal to feel anxious at some point. However, if you are finding it difficult to control your worries, or anxiety is beginning to interfere with your everyday life, you may need to think about treatment to help you cope. Anxiety symptoms can range from mild to severe and can include conditions such as panic disorder and phobias, and other disorders. If you are feeling anxious, you may feel a sense of dread, frequent irritability and restlessness, and you may experience palpitations, dizziness and shortness of breath, as the fight or flight response is triggered in your body.
Skype Therapy
read moreAt Achieving Balance, I offer remote, online therapy sessions through Skype, Google Hangouts, or FaceTime, commonly known as Skype Therapy. This form of online therapy or online counselling offers a flexible alternative to face-to-face therapy and, with improving technology, is becoming increasingly popular with clients. The use of video counselling, online psychotherapy, or online cognitive behavioural therapy (also known as online CBT therapy) is a natural progression from telephone counselling.
Relationship Counselling
read moreRelationships can be complicated and whether it's communicating with your children, engaging with your spouse or partner, dealing with parental issues or managing your connections with people such as a boss or friend, sometimes the pressure or stress in our lives can impact how we interact with each other. You may find that Relationship Counselling can help you better your relationships. Not all interactions are positive, and sometimes arguments, ongoing problems and miscommunications cause a rift in a relationship that can be hard to fix without effort from both parties.
Psychotherapy
read moreIf you are feeling emotionally out of balance or don't feel you are coping with a difficult situation, psychotherapy can help you in your journey towards psychological and emotional health. Yet, thanks to the media, it is frequently misunderstood. The word "psychotherapy" is often associated with Freudian-inspired stereotype of the seated therapist "analysing" a client who lays on a couch. Psychotherapy, like counselling, is a broad term for different types of talking therapy. There has been much debate over the years about what distinguishes counselling and psychotherapy, for example, the "depth" into which the therapy goes.
Hypnotherapy
read moreAre you feeling anxious, depressed, or angry? Perhaps you are struggling with a loss, such as a job loss or a relationship breakup, or you are not able to move past a particular fear. Whatever your motivation for seeking help, hypnotherapy is a powerful tool in your return to emotional balance. Yet many people have a sensational view of hypnosis and hypnotherapy, largely stemming from films and stage shows. At Achieving Balance, I use hypnotherapy in a practical manner to help treat a wide range of psychological issues.
Counselling
read moreCounselling is the broad term for talking therapies which aim to help you to explore your issues in a safe environment and with the support of a therapist. You can use counselling to reflect on losses, to come to terms with change, to try to resolve conflicts in yourself or with others, to overcome difficulties, to face fears and to make improvements in your life. You may be coming to counselling having struggled with your issues for some time before seeking professional help, perhaps having struggled to resolve matters yourself or with the help of friends or loved ones.

Depression
read moreFeeling low for more than a few days? You're not alone. Depression is estimated to affect one in six people. Thankfully, there is help at hand. We can all have short periods where we feel low for one reason or another. It is perfectly normal to feel this way and can even be thought of our way emotionally processing difficult events in our lives. However, depression tends to last longer, perhaps for weeks or even months. Depression is a real illness with real symptoms and is definitely not a sign of weakness or something that you can simply "snap out of".
