About Us
read moreD Welsh Builders have manufactured, built and repaired precast concrete sectional garages in Scotland for many years. This remains our main area of work and over that time we have built up a great loyal and experienced work force. We employ all our own staff and carry out everything from manufacture to construction using our own full time workforce. Avoiding sub-contractors and casual workers mean's we have great control over the planning and quality of the work. Our on site staff have been with us for between 11 years and 41 years and have a great depth of knowledge and skill.
Commercial buildings
read moreWe use our concrete wall panel system to design, manufacture and build a wide range of buildings from small garden stores or motorcycle sheds, through workshops and sub-station enclosures to larger green keepers stores and workshops. Our extremely versatile system has provided buildings for a wide variety of customers in the past including Scottish Power, British Gas, BT, Healthcare trusts, Schools, District Councils, Network Rail, MOD, Sports and Leisure clubs and Scottish Water as well as many private householders.
Doors
read moreThe most common type of main door on the front of our garages is an up and over door taken from the Hormann range of high quality security galvanised steel, GRP or timber doors with manual or automatic operation. Ask for full colour brochure or visit the Hormann website. We use the Hormann rollmatic roller garage door which offers a good degree of draught proofing and insulation and rolls up into a fairly compact coil inside the garage. This means that it takes up less roof space inside the garage, it provides you better access to the roof area for storage.
Attached Garages
read moreWe build Classic attached garages in a wide variety of types of construction and style. Our pre-cast concrete range of garages are perfectly suited to attaching to a house. They can be designed with a flat roof, a lean-to roof, a sheeted, tiled or slated roof. A garage of any sort attached to your house may not require Planning permission but will in all cases require Building Warrant approval from the local authority. We will be able to apply for that on your behalf and we can provide you advice on how to satisfy the Building Regulations with regard to fire resistance, drainage connections, etc.
Concrete Garages
read moreD Welsh Builders have been designing, manufacturing and building concrete garages for many decades. These are garages made from concrete wall panels. We manufacture these panels at our factory near Beith, Ayrshire. The panels are made by pouring wet concrete into specially designed and constructed steel moulds. The concrete is then vibrated thoroughly to allow a high level of compaction, then onto the surface we apply natural stone roughcast chippings or coloured render with roughcast chippings.
Brick Garages
read moreOn a traditional brick garage the walls can either be single skin or double skin and built with a cavity. The external finish can be facing brick or imitation stone or real sandstone or roughcast on blockwork or traditional Scottish wet cast ready for you to paint. The choices are almost endless with this type of construction. Walls are usually built off concrete strip foundations of a depth of about two foot below ground level although exact foundation design can vary depending on ground conditions.
Battery Garages
read moreBuilt together they are used by local authorities, housing associations and private developers to provide garages at convenient distances from buildings where space to locate them within the grounds of the building is not possible or desired.
