We're an independent family owned timber merchant, founded by Herbert Smith in 1945. Back then we cut hardwoods from the Forest of Dean and local private estates, primarily for the mining industry. We're still located on the same 12 acre site in Herefordshire that Mr. Smith purchased in 1939, although it has changed dramatically through investment through the years. During the 1950's we started cutting softwoods for the fencing, agricultural and construction industries. Gradually less hardwoods were sawn, and softwood sawmilling soon became our main business activity.

Just wanted to say a big thanks to Walford Timber for saving the day with a new table top. Having bought garden furniture elsewhere a few years ago, the table top had rotted beyond repair and it looked like the whole lot was heading for the skip. Real shame as we liked the table and its frame was sound. Spoke to Walford and they arranged for me to have the timber from one of their picnic tables plus a few more lengths to make it a bit wider - All sorted in a couple of days and I got pressure treated timber that's going to last for years, a smart table and saved a tidy bit of money thanks to their advice. Can't ask for more than that. Would recommend Walford Timber everytime. Value for Money
