The Golden Cross Hotel
read moreOnce again, it's all change! Elevated - or should that be relegated? Thus far we haven't made any decision about whether we'll be providing takeaway food for this stage of the lockdown but should we come to any conclusions we'll be posting them here and on our Facebook page. In the meantime, stay cosy, eat well and wait for spring! Best wishes, Gareth & Theresa. Comfortably nestling in Shrewsbury's historic town centre, The Golden Cross Hotel offers a whimsically glamorous alternative for visitors bored with the tame impersonality of chain hotels.

Below is a prcis of some of the significant events in its long and continuing history. The Sacristry was where the church plate and vestments were kept, and it also provided lodgings for a church officer known as the Sacristan. Similarly, the original name of Golden Cross Passage was Sextry Shut, and here were the lodgings of the Vicar's Choral of St. Chad's.
