STA receives no UK Government funding or support, yet has experienced incredible success over the last several years. Unlike other professional bodies who are experiencing declining memberships, STA is achieving significant growth; with over 6, 000 members to date. In addition to this Safety Training Awards, which is the STA's awarding organisation name, is the only UK government accredited awarding organisation that has Ofqual (Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulator) and SQA (Scottish Qualifications Authority) approval for its National Rescue Standard (NaRS) Lifeguarding.
