Gilding Gilded Signs
read moreProduced for ourselves. We used to have a rather elegant Georgian shop with offices, this little sign outside the front door demonstrated many of our in-house techniques, compimented our Wedgewood green and cream fascade, and generally (so our neighbours said) enhanced the entire street. Paul Dennis has developed an international reputation for the production, repair and reproduction of ornamental ironwork. We are pleased to say that we gilded these gates for him in the early part of his career.
Vehicle Livery & Graphics
read moreThe University of Sussex required magnetic vehicle signs for occasional promotional work using hired vans. Now they are using their own vehicles and only need vehicle signage once a month. Oil paint on a standard 2pack vehicle finish. Oil paints can easily be removed with the appropriate solvent. Self adhesives offer no advantage when it comes to removing graphics when you want to resell the vehicle.
Interior Directory Signs & Direction

Freestanding A Frame Signs
read moreBecause you put the sign out and bring it in every day, A frame signs are classed as temporary and don't require planning permission, but be warned, because they are not fixed they are ocassionally stolen as souvenirs. Like the A frame signs above, this sign is double sided. This type of construction has the advantage of not being easy to blow over, however, it has the disadvantage of not being as easy to store out of the way. Pilgrims Restaurant and Tea Rooms are situated within the grounds of Brecon Cathedral, their signs had to catch the eye and be mellow enough to harmonise with the restful atmosphere, we think that we got the balance right.
Entrance Signs
read moreAll of our signs are produced to a high specification and they are usally made from aluminium and stainless steel. The background is etch primed and sprayed with 2-pack Acrylic enamel, the lettering itself is sprayed on. This sign is at Hay-on-Wye. A few years ago the round post caps on this sign would have been made from timber, these days, a wide selection of ornamental fixings are available in cast aluminium and some plastics. Situated near Welshpool, two signs like this have been produced in aluminium and stainless steel, spray painted with two-pack enamel with some oil paint and gold leaf work on the coat of arms.
Road Signs
read moreEntrance signs to the county of Montgomeryshire. We departed from our typical construction here. The background is a reflective self adhesive material and the coat of arms is handpainted and includes gold leaf. Go to gilding section for more info and examples of gold leaf work. It's rare to find handpainted work on a road sign. Montgomeryshire originally purchased 3d cast aluminium coats of arms which were bolted onto the background, trouble is people kept unbolting them and they made fine souvenirs.
