St John The Baptist Parish Church
read moreAfter careful consideration, the PCC decided that we will open our church for public worship on Sunday 12th July at 10 am. Just before the beginning of the lockdown, the churchwardens and I went through the cupboards to update our inventory and we discovered a bottle of Champaign. I put it in the fridge thinking we could crack it open on Easter morning to share as part of the joyful celebration of the Resurrection. When we closed the church in March, the fridge was turned off but the Champaign was left inside.
About Us
read moreOn the 5th of November, Rachel Heskins was officially made the St John's new parish Priest. We welcome her into our parish and look forward to the exciiting time ahead. Rachel was born and grew up as a Christian in Telford in Shropshire. After leaving school, she studied at Durham University and discovered the joys of singing in a college chapel choir and was a member The Durham Revue, writing and performing comedy for the Edinburgh Fringe. After graduating, she studied acting and musical theatre at Mountview Theatre School in London and went on to work in retail and catering before finally deciding to become a teacher.
Keeping Safe
read moreMost of the time at church we are like a big happy family. However even in very happy families people can have a bad day and even people we know and trust can upset us. We want to help everyone have good days all of the time. We try to make sure that people who have jobs in the church always behave well and in a way that is helpful to you. We never want anyone or anything in church to frighten you, confuse you or worry you. It is important that you tell us if something is upsetting you or if you are feeling worried about something that's happening or something somebody is doing.

Make a donation
read moreWe have signed up to be part of the parish giving scheme, this allows you to set up a Direct Debit based payment that goes straight to church and if you are a tax payer church will also receive the Gift Aid too. This will help both you and the church since the payment is taken automatically and church have less administration to perform on the donation. Additionally you can choose to automatically increase your payments each year inline with inflation, so your donation will stay the same in real terms and not appear to decrease as costs increase.
Getting married at St John's
read moreLord, help us to begin our life together as we mean to go on, and to cherish the love that we have for one another, knowing that it comes from you. Guide us into that unity of life that is your promise to every husband and wife. Bless our preparations for our wedding and our future life, that, held in your love, we may find true joy; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Make an appointment to see Fr Stephen. He will talk to you about your previous marriage and will then make a decision about whether he is able to marry you in church or not.
