read moreConverting sawn timber into planed all round or finished profiles is a major part of our business. We machine over 3000km in our sawmill per annum and in addition to our 55 standard profiles we can reproduce the pattern of existing features or create new ones in our tool room. As well as four bandsaws and various cross cutting equipment we have four Wadkin planer moulders. Other services offered include drilling and notching. Good quality sawn timber and experienced machinists coupled with our own sharpening shop enables accuracy and consistency of production and ultimately customer satisfaction.

Strength Grading is a method of determining the strength of a piece of timber destined for structural use. MHS has specially TRADA trained visual graders on site to grade timber to the specified strength requirement. We can grade to C16, C24 and C27 strength requirements. Our graders are regulated by BM TRADA. The graders examine each piece of timber assessing it for the presence of naturally occurring growth characteristics which affect strength including the slope of grain, rate of growth and knot content.
