Porters Wood
Golf Courses & Equipment in Wigan, Greater Manchester
The 1st of the 2 par 4's is one of the toughest holes on the course. From the tee the fairway slopes down into the valley through which Ackhurst Brook runs. Players must play over the brook and up onto the two tiered Mckenzie styled green situated on the plateau above. The longest of hitters have an opportunity to drive for the green, however it is extremely risky and a lay-up shot is the sensible choice. However a lay-up shot too far back from the brook will result in an extremely difficult 2nd shot to the elevated green.
