About Us
read moreAt the Phoenix, we offer a wide range of fitness classes for all abilities, from the gentle, rhythmic art of T'ai Chi to high energy Circuit Training, Boxercise and all new Zumba classes. All our classes are run by qualified, experienced instructors. Exercise is necessary to assist with any weight loss programme. We suggest three sessions per week to feel an improvement in physical fitness and to see results. However, if you are new to exercise it is advisable to take things gently at first and build up gradually.
Phoenix Aikido and Fitness Club
read moreIt has been a tough year for most and all we can do is hope that 2021 is kinder to us all. Thank you to all the instructors, big thanks to Lisa, Natalie and Julia for the online classes and thankyou to you all for supporting them. We will obviously keep you informed of any changes and look forward to when we can all get together again. Due to the news of the second lockdown beginning on Thursday 5th, the club will sadly close again after the class on Wednesday 4th November. Thank you to you all for your support during these difficult times.
Fitness at the Phoenix
read moreThe present T'ai Chi class at the Phoenix was established by Mike Stanley, who was a direct lineage student of Master Chee So. In 2005, Mike left Coventry, and at Mike's suggestion the Club asked his two senior students to continue the class. The classes are held throughout the year on Friday from 7.30 - 9.00pm. If you are interested, then come along for a class. If you have any questions about joining the class, it is normally possible to speak to someone before the class starts. There are several styles of T'ai Chi, often associated with different family traditions or individual teachers.
