We supply housing, care and support - sometimes together, sometimes as personal services. We currently have a mix of mainstream and fully accessible housing. We were established in 1972 by Dr Margaret Blackwood to tackle the almost complete lack of housing in Scotland suitable for disabled people and their families. We were formally registered as a housing association in December 1975 and opened our 1st houses in Dundee in 1976. Majority of our houses and flats are in tiny, independent estates of mixed house kinds, or are personal properties scattered throughout the wider community.

The Scottish Government has set out new guidelines and Tier categories across the country. Blackwood has put measures in place to keep our customers and staff safe whilst continuing to deliver service.

Dr Blackwood was awarded her MBE for her dedication to improving the lives of disabled people and bringing awareness to a lack of adapted homes. She was deeply committed to people being able to live independent lives and, following her work to improve their financial situation, set her sights on providing housing that was suitably designed for disabled people.
