Lapwing Lodge is run and operated by West Regional Scout Council. We're a self funding, volunteer run campsite and hostel. Our activities are run by National Governing Body qualified campstaff. Our accommodation is nice quality back to basics self catering delivering for varied group sizes. Lapwing Lodge is not limited to Scout Association use; we're open to all youth organisations, community groups and corporate bookings. read moreLapwing Lodge is owned and run by West Region Scout Council. We operate good quality, back to basic, self-catering, accommodation. We have a large camp field and on site Caplaw Dam on which our water activities take place. We work hard to ensure our facilities are the best standard ensuring you have an enjoyable stay with us. Our indoor facilities are warm, clean and well stocked, catering for up to 76 split over two wings, West Wing sleeps 48 beds, East Wing sleeps 28 beds in dorms of 4 or 6, both wings have fully stocked Kitchen, Dining Room, Sitting Room.
read moreLapwing Lodge has varied and flexible accommodation. The accommodation units can be booked individually or together to suit the group size and requirements. Each Bed has a sheet Pillow with pillow case you provide your own sleeping bag. Bed lined is changed by the user at the end of their stay. Lapwing Lodge consists of 25 acre's of mixed moor land, grass land and forest, we have a large camp field offering many different options for Camping. We are in the process of installing 4 large Cabins. These are self-catering, glamping units with a shared cooking shelter, with access to the camping wash up area and field toilet blocks.
read moreLapwing Lodge started Life as a Sanatorium for Coats Mill workers in 1910. At this time the veranda was open to the elements for the patients to be wheeled out into the fresh air to recover (fresh air was the only help until we got penicillin). It remained in their ownership until 1955. In 1959 it was offered to Paisley Burgh and Renfrew County Council, but rejected, after which the building deteriorated. Ownership changed again this time to the Red Cross in 1960 and Paisley Scouts used the grounds for camping.
