Set up in 1922, the English Golf Union has recognised our downland course as a great test of golf by asking us to host the Carris Trophy in 1999 and the English Boys Open in 2008 - both attracting strong international fields. The R&A uses High Post as a prime example of a club at the forefront of its initiative On course for sustainability' The club, like most Open Championship Venues, promotes fine fescue grasses - considered to provide the best quality surfaces for conditions in the UK.

read moreA great finishing hole, the fairway slops from left to right so allow for this when you take your tee shot. Having cleared the ridge you are now faced with a long shot to the well protected green. The marker is a good line for the middle of the green. Walking off here with a par is a good result.

read moreSome may be tempted to have a go at the green when the conditions are favourable, however a tee shot with a long iron will leave a relatively short second to the putting surface. Hit the middle of the green and you won't be too far away from the pin.

read moreAim your tee shot to favour the right side of the fairway as the contours will take your ball to the left. The cross bunker sixty yards short of this narrow two tiered green makes the up hill approach appear shorter than it plays.

read moreYou will not be able to see the base of the pin as this par 3 is up hill. It requires a long iron for most players. Be sure to use enough club to avoid the bunkers at the front and check the wind direction before playing. The green slopes from back to front.

read moreA short par 4 that with a good straight drive will leave you with a short to mid iron to the two tiered green that slopes from back to front. With the prevailing wind against and the hole playing slightly uphill take one more club than you think otherwise you might be left with a tricky putt.

read moreA drive up the right side must be played to allow for the right to left slope of the fairway. The best line off the tee is just left of the tall firs. Going down the middle may result in your ball going under the trees down the left, accuracy not length is the key. Again all the trouble is short for your 2nd shot so take enough club and favour the right side of the green.
