When we moved in, the ground floor was open plan but still had the original windows plus a glass lean-to on the back of the house. It was very cold and drafty downstairs from the rear and we wanted to extend the entire ground floor to create a large and airy (but warm!) kitchen extension with dining area, plus a downstairs cloakroom with toilet and hand basin. We also wanted to close off the front room to create a cosy tv/library room with fireplace.
