Reviews
read moreIt was a real pleasure to discover the Formby golf course. I had heard a lot of good things about this journey and I was not disappointed. I had the chance to play in a nice sun, a slight breeze, and the conditions of the course were very good despite the climatic conditions of the day before, where the rain had fallen without stopping. Holes number 9 and 10 are my favorite! I love this kind of course, that's what I call real golf! See you soon. Dad and I have thoroughly enjoyed our birthday break playing both courses.
The Clubhouse
read moreThe original Clubhouse was destroyed by fire in 1899 and the present building was erected and opened in 1901. It was built, like its predecessor, to provide residential accommodation. Formby Golf Club continues to offer Dormy House accommodation to visiting golfers - or for those members preferring to stay over after a Club Dinner! The Clock Tower was a gift to the Club in 1909 from one Mr Joseph Bruce Ismay, Chairman of the White Star Line of Titanic fame, to recognise the Club's 25th Anniversary.
The History
read moreJunior officers of the troop ship "Veteran" strapped the Hippo to searchlight platform. The Hippo survived a trip under fire to Narvic, delivering troops to the Norwegian fiords and he returned relatively unscathed.
